Some (hopefully) permanent links to a growing South Florida tech scene

Been busy this week with personal and professional stuff, so no posting all week long. Gadzooks!

Still, managed to find the time to post a permanent addition to this blog of some links to Miami tech organizations and wanted to share that briefly. So, you’ll now find the permanent links in the right-hand column below to sites of some of the leaders in the still-not-quite-long-tail of Miami tech groups: RefreshMiami, MobileMonday Miami, MiamiDevHouse and NextMiami.

The third MobileMonday Miami meeting on June 9 had a strong showing at the Nokia offices here and at the RefreshMiami site you can still feel the buzz from the 2nd anniversary party, get some history on how the group was started and check the date and location for the next meeting (June 25).

MiamiDevHouse is a new effort and local version of the SuperHappyDevHouse monthly hackathon, started locally by Chris Saylor of Todobebe and co-founder of RefreshMiami. Next meeting is June 28 and if I’m not mistaken both Miami DevHouse and RefreshMiami will be meeting this month at Brikolodge in the Wynwood arts district.

And, NextMiami is a tech/entrepreneur group that’s apparently a little more tilted toward the business of tech startups that has been up and running for the past year.

RefreshMiami, MobileMonday Miami and MiamiDevHouse can all be followed via their Facebook groups and NextMiami is at meetup.com. They also all have RSS feeds on their sites to plug into your feedreader for constant updates.

All this activity has prompted me to start that promised series on this blog about the transition from Miami dot.com to Web 2.0, so stay tuned. First post should be in the pipeline soon and I may be asking for a little help from my friends
