“In five years’ time new tools will have emerged that we couldn’t imagine life without. And, by the same token, some of today’s tools will have disappeared.
“I think we will start finding a balance between them, and between our use of traditional ‘offline’ media and online. Online is not the death-knell of offline, and let us never forget that the most effective form of communication is face-to-face.”
- Tom Murphy, head of PR & Corporate Social Responsibility, Microsoft Ireland, and author of the blog Murphy’s Law, as quoted in the interview published this week by Brendan Cooper in The Friendly Chat: Tom Murphy

I think this might be my quote for the year Tom. I agree 100% face-to-face communication can not be overtaken by the digital world. However the new advances of today are great for the PR world, but our original forte as Public Relations practitioners is the emotional effect of face-to-face communication. This is lost with to much digital communication. Check out my blog about, is “Myspace the new Mall?” at http://www.prwithrp.blogspot.com. I continue more on this issue.
