Getting ready to head on over to BarCamp Miami this afternoon and decided to take the opportunity to re-enter the twittersphere.
Yes, yes, I know .. I posted awhile back that I’d throttled the bird and would be twittering no more. But, as that great American sage, Ralph Waldo Emerson, once said quite rightly: “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds …”
Actually, I’m persuaded to give Twitter another try by a number of intelligent posts on the utility of Twitter that I’ve read of late, starting with Tim Walker’s post at Hoover’s Business Insight Zone (The Twitter Curmudgeon), which led me to Jeremiah Owyang’s post on Twitter and web strategies; and more recently, Joel Postman’s post and summary of thoughts in a discussion he’d had with Jeremy Pepper; and then most recently, this piece from the Jeff Jarvis in The Guardian, courtesy of a link the other day from Steve Rubel.
I guess I’ve just decided that to ignore such a chorus would be foolish and that I need to jump back in and see wherein lies the utility, if any. So, hope to Twitter a couple of lines from BarCamp Miami over at the Arsht Center and meet a few of the folks who’ll be in attencance, like Alex and Jason from Miami (who I’m always too busy to hook up with in person) and hopefully Josh Hallet, whose Blog Orlando summit last year I was unfortunately unable to attend. Maybe I’ll learn a few more things about social media while there that will help to deal with creeping (in)consistencies …
